I’ve had just about enough of Chrome

Google’s new browser won me over instantly with its clean look, fast loads and stability. Surprisingly, it’s the little things I miss about good ol’ Firefox.

By far the most irritating difference in Chrome is a feature that was supposed to set it apart: the download manager. I hate it. HATE. Instead of making my life easier, Chrome’s downloading demands that I conform to its design concept. It refuses to learn the way I like to download, which documents I want opened instantly and which I want saved to a specific folder.  And for such a clean product that eschews even the status bar, it seems truly bizarre that Google would think I want a bunch of file icons cluttering up the bottom of my browser.

I thought I would get used to it, but the more I live with Chrome, the more this irritates me – mainly because I find it inflexible.

More on this later. I have to get back to my day/night job.
